Ahhh Tom Ford. I love everything about Tom Ford; the clothes, the makeup, the man (BABE) and decided that I would purchase a lipstick from his line for my 21st birthday in May of last year (post here). I picked up the shade True Coral from Fenwick in Newcastle on the last day of my exams so by the time I made it into town I was slightly worse for wear. Yes ladies, I was drunk when I bought my lipstick. I had already swatched the colour plenty of times before though and knew it was the one I wanted so it was all fine in the end! To the pictures!
We'll have an intermission to take in the beauty of the packaging right about now I think. Mine is the old white packaging, they have since had a makeover and are now held in a dark brown and gold casing. SWATCHES!
These two swatches are a completely accurate representation of the colour. It is, as the name suggests, a true coral; the closest I have seen a lipstick come to the colour of a coral gem.
Formulation: I wouldn't exactly call this lipstick moisturising but it certainly isn't drying. I find it very comfortable to wear and I have seriously dry lips usually.
Smell: Not heavily scented at all. I've just spent about five minutes sniffing it and there is no real detectable smell, which is nice because scented lipsticks aren't for everyone.
Wear: I would get 5, maybe 6 hours of wear out of this. I wore it to my graduation and didn't need to touch up from around 9am until 3pm. It does do that annoying thing where it forms little balls on the lips after hours of wear, just something to note.
Pigmentation: Amazing. Both of the swatches have only one swipe of lipstick.
Price and availability: I bought mine for £35 last May, they have since gone up in price to £36. You can purchase Tom Ford lipsticks from any Tom Ford counter and from www.houseoffraser.com.
Final thoughts: I love my Tom Ford lipstick and do not regret buying it for one second. It is very expensive but it is something that is lovely for a lipstick lover to own.

Such a pretty shade ! xx

ReplyDeleteDefinitely a lot more wearable in the spring/summer time!
DeleteGreat post, this colour looks lovely. I bought it as a gift for a friend once and plan to make it my own one day! I have Cherry Lush, in the old white packaging too, and desperately want one of the newer tubes! Though I did get a nail polish and eye quad for my birthday this weekend so that's quieting the cravings - for now...
ReplyDeleteOh you're a lucky duck, what a lovely present! I'm definitely planning my next purchase too, I loved the white packaging though!

DeleteGorgeous colour, looks lovely on xx
ReplyDeleteThank you! It really is pretty special.
DeleteAh how could you possibly go into Fenwicks when hungover? I feel the need to dress to the nines to even go as far as the half price Christmas decorations! Although I found myself hovering around the Tom Ford stand the other day, pawing at some of the gorgeous stuff. (By hovering, I mean demanding that I be brought to the stand to look at the pretties while on the hunt for China Glaze's Hunger Games collection.)
ReplyDelete...I was still drunk. Lol is that possibly worse? I love and miss the Tom Ford counter so much, we sadly don't have one in Belfast!
